One of the most successful types of applications among users of tablets are news aggregators. The site paidContent published earlier this year a comparison chart that allows you to review the different options, their main characteristics and differences.

The most widespread application is certainly Flipboard , one of the first car parks in summer 2010 and recently honored at the awards ONA ( Online News Association ) in the category "Technical Innovation in the Service of journalism '. Most of these apps are free, although there are also pay as Ongo - and many of them are driven by media groups, either independently (as Trove of The Wasington Post ) or in combination with other means ( as News.me or Press ).

In this context of strong competition, digital media company Yahoo! has this week's expected launch of Livestand, which is already available in the U.S. alone, in the App Store . It is, as Flipboard, a magazine designed for the iPad living which includes content from Yahoo! and other publishers in order to "create a digital experience visually stunning and highly customized, tailored to the interests and tastes of each person" . It is built on the new platform Cocktails of Yahoo!, which enables rapid development and global distribution of experiences. His arrival in Europe is planned for next year.

"The tablets are profoundly changing the way we interact with media and Livestand out these changes in a personalized and imaginative new experience," he said in the presentation of Livestand Blake Irving , vice president and chief product officer, Yahoo!. "The technology is based Livestand, combined with its striking design and stunning variety of content, redefines what digital media can be."
